Hello, I’m Beth, and I’m a product designer for the Monitor Audio group, which includes Blok, Monitor Audio and Roksan. I’ve been working for the group for just over 18 months. As product designers, we work across all three brands when designing products.
The key design goal for Axis was to create a simple and considered speaker stand that works well with a wide range of loudspeakers while remaining visually aligned with the Stax 2G range. That direction shaped the final product by keeping the form minimal while keeping the focus on acoustic performance, stability and the use of materials. The result is a stand that feels understated but refined, with high-quality finishes that elevate the overall design without distracting from the speaker itself.
One of the main challenges during the design and development phase was making sure Axis looked right and performed acoustically. We wanted the stands to provide great support for the speaker and help create the best possible listening experience, so a lot of focus went into reducing any unwanted resonance and vibration. To help achieve this, we added internal foam within the stand poles. Customers can also purchase our Isofill alongside the stands to help improve the sound even further. By considering the acoustic performance alongside the visual design, we’ve created a stand that feels refined, purposeful and genuinely contributes to the overall speaker performance.
We wanted the materials, colours and finishes for Axis to feel as closely aligned with the Stax 2G range as possible, while still making sure the stands would work well with a wide variety of loudspeakers and interiors. The range is available in two colour options, black and white, giving customers a neutral foundation that can sit comfortably alongside different speaker finishes. To add warmth and detail, we introduced a ply edge to the plinth, creating a subtle contrast against the painted top surface. This material detail helps elevate the design, giving Axis a more considered and premium feel while maintaining the refined, understated aesthetic of the wider Blok ranges.
The shared design language between Axis and Stax 2G comes through in the considered colour options and the subtle design details that connect the two products. Both ranges use restrained, versatile palettes that have been carefully chosen to work across a wide range of interiors and speaker finishes. There are also small but distinctive details that carry through, such as the chamfered cut-out of the back of the Stax 2G shelves, which we’ve echoed on the back of the Axis plinth. Maintaining this consistency is important because it helps the product feel part of the same family, improving the Blok design identity. This gives customers confidence that the pieces will work together visually as a complete system.
What sets Axis apart is the balance between acoustic performance, material detail and a refined, design-led aesthetic. It has been developed to do more than simply support a speaker. Every element has been considered to help improve stability, reduce unwanted resonance and contribute to the overall listening experience. At the same time, the use of premium finishes, exposed ply detailing and carefully matched colour options give Axis a more furniture-like quality, allowing it to sit naturally within the home rather than feeling like a purely technical accessory. That combination of performance, versatility and considered design is what makes Axis stand out from others on the market.
